Healthy and sustainable mobility with the HARTMANN JobRad

A healthy working environment, recognition, performance-based pay and a wide range of material and non-material benefits. All this is all part of HARTMANN’s employee-oriented (and future-oriented) corporate culture.

One example of this is the company bicycle leasing scheme – JobRad – which the company introduced in January 2022. Launched as a pilot project at Kneipp in Ochsenfurt, the Heidenheim/Herbrechtingen site followed in April 2023. The program has since been expanded to six other locations in Germany.

Promoting sustainable mobility

JobRad uses deferred compensation to let employees lease a company bike, which they can also use in their free time. They can choose between e-bikes, mountain bikes, cargo bikes, pedelecs and other types of bicycles.

JobRad is another way the company supports sustainable mobility and provides employees with an incentive to integrate exercise into their everyday lives – a perfect addition to the wide range of occupational health management (OHM) measures.

The concept has been well received. JobRad user Thomas Lehner reports: “I cycle to work every day. This means we can do without a second car in the family. It’s also good for my health and keeps me fit.” Daniel Richter, another JobRad user, adds: “My bike is a relaxing way to get to work and a stress-relieving way to get home. I’m also making a small contribution to reducing CO2 emissions.”

300 bikes and counting

Interest has been huge – and there are already around 300 bikes in use. The majority are in Heidenheim/Herbrechtingen. Motorized bikes are particularly popular: 80 percent of JobRad users opt for a pedelec. In Heidenheim, for example, free charging stations are even available on the company premises.

This environmentally friendly mobility concept at HARTMANN also includes an employer subsidy for the maintenance of your bike of choice. Manisha Alvares-Wegner, a JobRad user at HARTMANN, sums up some of the key benefits: “Leasing my bike comes with a tax break – and the insurance is even included.”
