HARTMANN among the finalists for the German Sustainability Award 2024

On 26 August 2024, the expert jury of the German Sustainability Award Foundation announced that PAUL HARTMANN AG had made it to the finalists for the German Sustainability Award 2024 with its application. According to the foundation, this makes the Company ‘one of the outstanding drivers of transformation in Germany’.

In early summer, HARTMANN was once again nominated for the German Sustainability Award (DNP) in the field of medical technology. Honoring companies for their sustainability achievements, the award is given annually by the German Sustainability Award Foundation in cooperation with the German government. The German Sustainability Award is Europe's largest prize for ecological and social commitment and will be awarded for the 17th time in 2024.The award distinguishes leading examples from the business world that demonstrate sustainable corporate governance through the successful combination of ecological, economic, and social progress.The award ceremony will take place on the 28th November in Düsseldorf.

HARTMANN takes a holistic approach to sustainability, considering the economic, ecological, and social impacts of its business activities. To pursue these goals, concrete measures are implemented and continuously developed. According to the expert jury, HARTMANN was nominated “as a pioneer of transformation in the healthcare sector.” "For us, the nomination is a great honor and confirmation of our work. Economic success in the company goes hand in hand with progress in the social and environmental sectors. This is evidenced by various sustainability certifications," says Michaela Sieger, Head of Sustainability at HARTMANN.

The company aims to be completely climate neutral by 2050. Continuous investments in the use of alternative energy sources and measures to reduce packaging and waste contribute to this goal. Additionally, HARTMANN has been conducting life cycle assessments of its existing and new products for years. The data obtained—from product creation to usage and disposal or recycling—are used to identify and realize sustainability levers. This includes reducing the raw materials used in production by using recycled or more sustainable materials or achieving savings in packaging volume. An example of sustainable product innovation is the Bacillol® Zero Tissues made from plastic-free tissue material. They provide highly effective infection protection in medical settings and have up to a 75% lower CO2 footprint compared to conventional products.

In the social sector, HARTMANN offers its employees extensive occupational health care, discounted external fitness and leisure offers, as well as company bike leasing. Outside of its business environment, the company supports various humanitarian, social, and cultural institutions through donations and sponsorship.
